The Society held its 218th Anniversary Meeting on Wednesday, 24th May 2006. During a busy evening the Society was very pleased to admit a number of Fellows, and to make awards to Professor Richard Fortey (Linnean Medal for Zoology), Professor David Mabberley (Linnean Medal for Botany), Dr Vincent Savolainen (Bicentenary Medal for work done by a biologist under the age of 40), Mr Eric Clement (H H Bloomer Award for an amateur naturalist who has made an important contribution), Ms Bobbi Angell (Jill Smythies Award for botanical illustration) and Dr Yuki Yasumura (Irene Manton Prize for the best Ph D thesis in botany).
